  ·          What was the motivation of the project? This project is motivated by the need to establish a comparative analysis between education that takes place in the heart of homes, under the guidance of parents, and that carried out by educational institutions regulated by the state. On specific topics such as areas of academic performance of students, social, emotional and psychological development of children and the success of adults who received education both at home and in schools. ·          What are the key research questions and how were they investigated? The key research questions are: - Are parents who are not teachers trained to provide their children with a quality education from their homes that place them at the level of the students in school?  - Do children and young people educated in their homes, without any state intervention, acquire the necessary skills to respo...

My research idea Allow me to share with you my research idea methodology based on the proposed objectives of my project and our tutor's feedback from previous activities: General To determine, based on the proposed research, how students grade 10 and 11 students connect their EFL learning process as an academic necessity to other academic necessities represented by other subjects, and to consider how that education impacts both the development of their EFL linguistic skills and their community and social environment in an integrated examination system. Specific: - To establish what is the students’ level of command of EFL at the 2 higher levels of secondary education in Cienega by conducting proficiency and placement tests. - To connect the study and development of EFL skills to the other subjects the pupils study at school by making use of content-based instruction (CBI). - To analyse the way this knowledge is perceived, by students to impact the development of the com...

My research idea - Recognize the expansion of e-learning as an educational method in academic institutions and the acceptance it has had on the part of students and parents. For this analysis, I propose a quantitative investigation since it is a numerical aspect, that is, how many people have determined that e-learning is a good study model and accept it, I do not know they ask questions such as: why? like? this way no such deep investigation is required to gather this information. To obtain this information, the analysis will be carried out through two types of research: - Quantitative survey research, in this way the responses of the interviewees can be a statistical part such as percentage, frequency, quantity. Since the questions must be closed to get a general result.

My Research Idea In relation to my experience at UNAD and my work as a primary school teacher, I expose the deficiencies that 5th-grade students present in relation to listening and speaking skills in virtual studies, which is why the need arises to perform an investigation to solve the problem with questions such as: Why? How? Which? and for this, I propose qualitatively and quantitative research in which it is possible to know the number of students who present certain academic difficulties and influential emotional aspects for the learning of the English language. General objective  Improve learning processes through the use of appropriate interaction spaces in which strategies are developed to overcome difficulties and allow significant learning of English as a foreign language. Specific objectives Conduct surveys as a strategy for collecting information related to the number of students who present difficulties in comprehension and production skills. - Apply diagnostic...

My Research idea - Determine the effectiveness of learning English as a foreign language through the virtual or face-to-face modality. To analyze which study modality is more academically effective when learning English (virtual or face-to-face), I propose research with a mixed approach, that is, mix the qualitative and quantitative approach, collect, analyze and link quantitative and qualitative data in the same research to respond to planning and, check which learning is more effective. - Conduct interviews with people who have finished their studies of English as a foreign language, both in-person and online, to determine the degree of satisfaction of each one. - Assessments to measure grammatical management, verbal fluency, oral expression, etc. Both of the students of the face-to-face modality and the virtual modality. - Virtual tools that help me organize and classify the information to have clear and measurable results. - Observation of focus groups of the UNAD, both...

Introduction

When researching, the first thing is to define the topic we want to address and the objectives to be achieved with said research, but it is just as important to determine the research method to follow since in this way, we can define the tools that will be used at the same time to collect the information that provides the necessary elements to respond to the problem raised. Dear reader, in this collaborative blog in which we participate, we present a SWOT analysis on qualitative and quantitative research methods, where you can appreciate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of each of them. We also share our research ideas based on our own experiences about teaching-learning English as a foreign language at UNAD. In addition to presenting our SWOT analysis of these ideas, we suggest the research method to follow, which in our opinion offers the most in-depth and complete information that responds to the hypothesis.
