· What was the motivation of the project?
This project is motivated by the need to establish a comparative
analysis between education that takes place in the heart of homes, under the
guidance of parents, and that carried out by educational institutions regulated
by the state. On specific topics such as areas of academic performance of
students, social, emotional and psychological development of children and the
success of adults who received education both at home and in schools.

What
are the key research questions and how were they investigated?
The key research questions are:
- Are parents who are not teachers trained to provide their children
with a quality education from their homes that place them at the level of the students
in school?
- Do children and young people
educated in their homes, without any state intervention, acquire the necessary
skills to respond to the challenges that arise in their environment?
- If homeschooling has shown positive results for students, why is it not
supported by the state education system?
The research was carried out through surveys, interviews, samples of
focus groups and technological tools used to measure the aspects evaluated.
First, the problem raised is delimited by conducting a study on
African-American families who educate their children at home. It is
investigated for the reasons that led these parents to select for homeschooling and the academic performance of their children compared to that of
students who attend school regularly.
·
Is
this quantitative or qualitative research?
In this project, quantitative research prevails, since in most cases
what is sought is to establish quantifiable and measurable samples of the
problem to be investigated, the surveys carried out with pre-established
questions, which are tabulated to show results in numbers or figures, although
it also contains to a lesser extent some qualitative research, trying to
question respondents about the reasons that led them to prefer homeschooling
for their children, about the social, psychological and emotional development
of children who are trained by their parents at home.
